Wildcats two 30-point scorers give BU its 10th conference loss

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Baylor men's basketball took on Kansas State in a late-night game at Bramlage Coliseum but couldn't hold back the Wildcats two 30-plus point scorers and fell on Tuesday night, 90-74.

Baylor (13-13, 3-10) committed a season-high of 19 turnovers that led to 23 points for the Wildcats. Kansas State (11-15, 2-11) led for the entirety of the game, taking a lead as big as 21, to give BU its fourth straight loss.

Isaac Williams IV led the Bears in scoring and assists with 16 points on six dimes. Tounde Yessoufou supplied 14 points with seven rebounds and Cameron Carr grabbed 12 points and five rebounds. Dan Skillings Jr. made his return on the court with 11 points and a team-leading eight rebounds.

Baylor's offensive attack was threatened by K-State's PJ Haggerty (34) and Nate Johnson (33), who combined for 67 of the Wildcats' 90 points.

THE RUNDOWN
A deep bucket by Kansas State's Johnson got the late Tuesday night game rolling in Manhattan. Isaac Williams IV put the Bears on the board with a quick jumper, but it was K-State who got the lead at the first media timeout, up 10-6.

James Nnaji grabbed a layup with an assist by Williams to snap K-State's scoring run, but the Wildcats were fueled by Johnson connecting from three-point line as they took a 10-point lead, 20-10.

Making a return from missing the past four games due to injury, Dan Skillings Jr. picked up right where he left off, finding Baylor's first deep ball of the night. A steal-and-score slam dunk by Cameron Carr gave BU some momentum. However, K-State responded by holding Baylor to a two-minute scoring drought, maintaining its lead 26-17.

Michael Rataj with quick four points got every Bear in rotation on the stat sheet to give BU a 7-0 run and cut the deficit 34-28.

A first-half season-high of 10 turnovers didn't help the Bears with the Wildcats converting 14 points of it and they went into the locker room trailing by seven, 41-34.

Kansas State came out of the half hot, pursuing an 8-0 run to go up by 15 on the Bears while holding BU scoreless for the first three minutes of the half. At the under-12 media timeout, Baylor struggled to find rhythm, only completing three made baskets to K-State's seven to stretch its lead.

The duo of Yessoufou and Carr find themselves in double-figures once again, leading Baylor in scoring. Yessoufou nailed BU's second three of the night and Williams picked up his tenth point to cut what was Baylor 21-point shortage to 10 points, 70-60.

However, every effort made by Baylor was answered by Kansas State's Haggerty and Johnson and K-State came away with the win, 90-74, and dropped BU to 3-10 in the Big 12 season.
