
VB Tallies a Road Sweep at Texas Tech

Bears held off a late charge from the Red Raiders to secure the straight-set victory
LUBBOCK, Texas — No. 21 Baylor volleyball earned a 3-0 sweep over Texas Tech on Thursday night at United Supermarkets Arena, picking up its second Big 12 victory of the season.
The Bears (10-5, 2-3 Big 12) controlled the first two sets before holding off a late Red Raider rally in the third to complete the sweep. Baylor finished with 49 kills and a .292 hitting percentage while limiting Texas Tech to .109.
Ksenia Rakhmanchik led the team with 16 kills and 16.5 points, while Victoria Davis added 13 kills on .522 hitting. Nadiya Johnson contributed nine kills while hitting .412, and Isabela Haggard directed the offense with 42 assists.
RUNDOWN
Baylor established control early in the opening set, building a 5-2 lead behind a Rakhmanchik kill and a block assist from Davis. The Bears continued to build separation, turning an 8-6 lead into a 14-9 advantage before pulling away late on a 6-0 run. Baylor recorded 17 kills while hitting .464 in the frame, closing out the set, 25-15.
The Bears carried their momentum into the second set, using early kills from Davis and Rakhmanchik to build a 4-1 advantage. Texas Tech stayed within striking distance, but Baylor gradually widened the gap and moved ahead 20-15 following consecutive Red Raider errors. Davis continued to produce at the net as Johnson and Bailey Warren added timely kills. Baylor closed the set, 25-20, to take a 2-0 match lead.
Texas Tech made its strongest push in the third set, turning the frame into a back-and-forth battle. The teams traded points throughout the set, with the Red Raiders reaching set point at 24-22. Baylor responded with kills from Rakhmanchik and Johnson to even the score at 24-24. After the teams continued to trade points, Davis delivered a kill to put the Bears ahead 27-26, and a Texas Tech attack error sealed the 28-26 victory and the sweep.
