Eastern Kentucky transfer Khadijah Ennasri expected to make season debut on Friday
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Baylor men's and women's cross country teams will get a sneak peek at the NCAA Championship site on Friday, competing in the Nike XC Town Twilight at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
Â
Making her debut in a Baylor uniform, senior transfer Khadijah Ennasri from Eastern Kentucky will compete in the women's 6K race at 4 p.m. CT, joined by senior Mackenize Browne, juniors Ruth Kimeli, Ella Perry and Lucy Benton and sophomores Rachel Haws, Eva Jacobsen and Rickeisha Simms.
Â
"Excited for the opportunity to compete on the NCAA Championship course," Baylor coach David Barnett said, referencing the NCAA Championship on Nov. 21 back in Terre Haute. "It will be a good test for our teams on hilly terrain as we continue to prepare for the Big 12 Championships in a month."
Â
Last time out, Kimeli made her season debut and finished ninth with a career-best 5K time of 16:18.8, helping the BU women to a 12th-place finish out of 31 teams at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala.
Â
Running a full team on the men's side for just the second time this season, the Bears will have senior Straton Miller, juniors Jack Sterrett and Caden Biltz and freshmen Caleb Larsen and Matthew King. While Sterrett had a 10th-place finish at the Aggie Opener, the two freshmen were Baylor's lead runners at the Texas A&M Invitational, with King placing 36th with an 8K time of 25:35.8.
Â
The men's 8K race will start at 4:40 p.m. CT.
Â
Closing out the regular season, the Baylor men and women will return to College Station for the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Oct. 16 before a Halloween showdown for the Big 12 Championship on Oct. 31 in Stillwater, Okla.
Â
Live results for Friday's meet will be available at Nike XC Town Twilight.
