Rutledge earns first All-America nod
WACO, Texas – Baylor equestrian Western senior Alexis Rutledge has been named Ariat NCEA First Team All-America for Horsemanship, as announced by the association office on Tuesday afternoon.
The Altoona, Iowa, native earned First Team All-America honors in Horsemanship after an undefeated season in conference play at 6-0 and going 10-2 on the season overall, earning three MOPs in her event.
Rutledge is the first Bear to be named as such for Horsemanship since the 2022 season and is just the ninth different rider to earn the accolade in the event for Baylor. She is also the third rider for BU to earn First Team honors for Horsemanship.
The senior holds the two highest scores in the event for the Bears this season, earning a 76.75 against Fresno State in the fall and a 75.5 against OSU in February. Rutledge's winning percentage for the year was 83%, a career-high, with an average score of 73.20. In the spring, she won by an average margin of 5.56 points.
This rounds out a decorated season for Rutledge as she was recently named the Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Year, Big 12 Horsemanship Co-Rider of the Month for March after earning it outright in February, and was named to the All-Big 12 First Team.
Baylor finished its season with a 5-7 record overall and a 2-4 conference record.
