Scott recognized with top 20 shooting guards
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Baylor women's basketball guard Taliah Scott has been named to the 2025-26 Preseason Watch List for the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday.
The Ann Meyers-Drysdale Award recognizes the top shooting guards in women's college basketball every year. The redshirt sophomore guard is listed among the top 20 shooting guards in the country.
Only playing three games with the Tigers in her lone season at Auburn before transferring to Waco, Scott averaged 20.3 points per game with two 20-point contests against Little Rock and No. 23 Oregon. Her Auburn debut against the Trojans saw records fall, as the sophomore tied the team record of eight 3-pointers in a single game, also breaking the Neville Arena best mark in her first and only showing on the navy and orange court.
Before her year at Auburn, Scott averaged 22.1 points per game in 20 appearances with the Arkansas Razorbacks, earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week five times and led Arkansas in scoring and free-throw percentage (83.8%), along with league-high marks for points and minutes per game.
The 2023-24 campaign in Fayetteville held 19 double-digit scoring efforts for Scott with 13 games seeing 20 or more points and three hitting the 30-point mark. Her career-high day of 34 points against Arkansas State still stands after shooting 12-of-21 with a perfect nine-of-nine showing at the free throw line.
An updated top 10 list will be released in January with the final five narrowed in late March. Throughout the season the list will be fluid, and players will have the ability to play themselves on or off our list until the five finalists are selected.
The 2025-26 season officially tips off at Adidas Arena in Paris, France, where the Bears face No. 7 Duke at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3. The matchup will be the first televised game of the season and the first ranked-versus-ranked contest in the NCAA.
Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
