WACO, Texas – No. 20 Baylor soccer (8-1-2, 3-1 Big 12) earned its third consecutive victory with a 3-0 shutout of Iowa State (4-4-2, 1-3 Big 12) on Thursday evening at Betty Lou Mays Field. With the win, the Bears have already eclipsed their Big 12 win total from last season, when they concluded conference play with a 2-5-4 record.
Baylor controlled the pace early, registering the first shot of the match in the 13th minute as midfielder Olivia Hess narrowly missed the frame. The Bears capitalized soon after, when forward Callie Conrad found the back of the net in the 21st minute off a well-placed cross from Theresa McCullough, the duo's second goal-assist connection in the past three matches.
Conrad added her second goal of the evening in the 34th minute, finishing a decisive pass from Aryanna Jimison to record her first career brace. With the effort, she matched her goal total from the 2023 season in just two matches.
Baylor extended its lead in the 72nd minute when Alysiah Lockette converted her third goal of the season, assisted by Lauren Omholt and Jimison. Jimison's two-assist performance marked the first multi-assist outing by a Baylor player this year.
On the defensive end, Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week Azul Alvarez recorded three saves to secure her eighth shutout of the season, weathering the eye of the Cyclone. Alvarez, backed by a disciplined back line including the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week Hallie Augustyn.

On today's match…
"We're playing really well-balanced soccer all the way around. Obviously getting the shutouts are important. We come into these games not necessarily planning to get a shutout, it's just a bonus of playing good defense, but ultimately the goal is to outscore our opponent. We want to be an attacking team, and we want to create chances, and we did that. A lot of players getting on the board and a lot of players are really starting to get hot at the right moment, so that's really exciting. Our back line has just been reliable, consistent, Azul Alvarez of course always reliable and consistent. So, I can't say enough great things about those kids."
On seeing Callie's success…
"Callie [Conrad] works really hard to do the things that lead to goals. It's really unfortunate that she hasn't had more up till this point in the season. But because she's in the right spaces, she's making the run, she's committed to training and those one-touch finishes. We knew it eventually was going to come and I think she's got more in the tank."
Forward Callie Conrad
On seeing the ball connect in-goal…
"I'm feeling awesome. I was a little slow at the beginning, so it feels good to finally get some in the back of the net. Theresa [McCullough] and I have been out of practice and working on that, so that makes it feel extra good that it's finally paying off in games."
