Bears to play 29 of 54 regular-season games at Baylor Ballpark
WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball unveiled its complete 2026 schedule on Wednesday, as announced by fourth-year head coach Mitch Thompson.
The Bears will play 29 of their 54 regular-season games in Waco at Baylor Ballpark, including conference series against West Virginia, BYU, TCU, Texas Tech and UCF. BU is also set to compete in two non-conference, neutral-site weekend tournaments at the Karbach Round Rock Classic against Oregon State, Purdue and Southern Miss, as well as the Astros Foundation College Classic against Ole Miss, Texas and UTSA.
This season, Baylor will play a combined 22 games against 11 NCAA Tournament teams and face three conference champions from a year ago. Fourteen 30-game winners headline BU's 2026 campaign, including six squads that won 40 or more games last season.
Notably, 52% of the Bears' 2026 slate features opponents that finished the 2025 season with a top-75 RPI, including 12 games against seven different teams with a top-30 RPI from a season ago.
Baylor is coming off its best year of the Thompson era after going 33-22, which tied for the program's most regular-season wins since 2017. The Bears logged an impressive 20-4 mark against non-conference foes and dominated the midweek slate, going 11-1.
To open the 2026 season, BU welcomes New Mexico State to Waco for the first time in 10 years for a three-game series on Feb. 13-15 to kick off the year. Texas State comes to Baylor Ballpark for the first midweek game of the spring on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
A midweek matchup against Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 24 splits the Bears' two premier non-conference tournament weekends at the Karbach Round Rock Classic (Feb. 20-22) and Astros Foundation College Classic (Feb. 27-March 1). BU's first true road game follows on March 3 at Tarleton.
Baylor is set to compete against Air Force for the first time since 1972, hosting the Falcons in Waco for a three-game set on March 6-8 to begin an eight-game homestand. Midweek contests against Sam Houston (March 10) and Kansas State (March 17) sandwich the start of conference play as the Bears welcome West Virginia to Baylor Ballpark on March 13-15.
BU departs the state of Texas for the first time on March 20-22 to face Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla., before coming home to square off against Incarnate Word on March 24. Another road weekend follows as the Bears head down to Houston to face the Cougars on March 27-29.
Tarleton makes the return trip to Waco on March 31 before Baylor plays a Thursday-Friday-Saturday series with BYU on April 2-4. On April 7, BU takes on UT Arlington away from home before heading to Cincinnati for three against the Bearcats on April 10-12.
The Bears are set to see UTSA for the second time in 2026 on April 14 at home, preceding a marquee weekend series against TCU on April 17-19 in Waco. Then, Baylor completes its season series against Sam Houston on the road on April 21 and goes west to Arizona State on April 24-26.
Seven of the next eight games for BU are set to be played at Baylor Ballpark, as Baylor hosts UT Arlington (April 28), Texas Tech (May 1-3) and UCF (May 8-10) around a road midweek matchup on May 5 at Texas State.
To close out the year, the Bears go to Utah for a three-game series with the Utes on May 14-16.
The format for the 2026 Big 12 Baseball Tournament presented by Allstate will be finalized at a later date. NCAA Regionals will begin the first weekend of June, followed by Super Regionals and the 2026 College World Series, set for June 11-22 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb.
All series dates and game times are subject to change. Finalized dates and times will be announced by host institutions prior to the start of the season.
