WACO, Texas – No. 25 Baylor women's tennis (3-1) defeated Nebraska (4-1), 5-2, Friday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The Bears won their fourth doubles point of the season in as many matches, and piled on wins at the Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 6 singles spots en route to the victory.
THE RUNDOWN
BU started with the No. 13 pairing of Liubov Kostenko and Cristina Tiglea taking down the Husker's Lucy Loy and Ana Zamburek 6-2 on Court One for their eighth win of the year. On Court Two, Zuzanna Kubacha and Wenfei Yu remained unbeaten with a 6-4 victory to give Baylor the doubles point.
In singles, Kennedy Gibbs was the first off the court with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win on Court Four against Nebraska's Reya Lee Coe. Nebraska then responded by taking wins on Courts One and Five to tie up the match at two points apiece.
In her first collegiate dual match, freshman Nanaka Sato gained her first win with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 victory on Court Six to give Baylor the lead again.
On Court Two, Kostenko had a hard-fought battle and was able to give Baylor the dual-match victory with a 7-5, 6-4 win. Kubacha played through her match and was able to garner a 6-3, 7-5 victory to extend Baylor's win.

"[There was] just a lot of fight today. We had a slightly different line up then the previous three matches we played, and the girls did a great job of adjusting. First match in windy conditions, so they handled some adversity and they competed hard. I'm proud of them."
