IOWA CITY, Iowa – Baylor soccer fell against No. 22 Iowa, 3-0, Sunday night at the Iowa Soccer Complex.
The Bears' defense shined in the first half against the Hawkeyes, keeping the Iowa offense from scoring after they put up 11 shots in the first 45 minutes. Baylor goalkeeper Azul Alvarez made four saves in goal in the first half.
After not firing off a shot in all of the first half, Baylor's Hannah Boughton recorded the first shot of the game putting one on frame in the 49th minute.
Iowa was able to find the back of the net in the 57th minute to take the 1-0 lead.
After off target shots from Ava Colberg, Tyler Isgrig and Ashley Merrill, Isgrig almost gave BU the equalizer in the 84thminute when her shot went off the top woodwork barely missing the goal.
The Hawkeyes found their second and third goals in the 85th and 90th minute to take the win over the Bears.
HIGHLIGHTS
Up next, the Bears will return home to open conference play on Thursday, Sept. 12, against No. 13 Oklahoma State before turning around and closing out their non-conference slate against Texas State on Sunday, Sept. 15.
