STILLWATER, Okla. -- No. 36 Baylor women's tennis fell to No. 18 Oklahoma, the No. 3 seed, 4-0 on Thursday afternoon in the Big 12 Championship Quarterfinals, hosted by Oklahoma State at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The Sooners controlled the match early, posting a doubles win and earning singles wins on court two, three and six. The matchup marked the second meeting in the last week, as Oklahoma posted a 4-0 win over the Bears in Waco on senior day last Friday.
Beginning with doubles, Oklahoma struck quickly to take courts two and three 6-1, 6-2, respectively. The top court remained undecided, with the Bears at a 5-3 disadvantage.
Singles saw the Bears in the mix to gather points but Oklahoma picked up a pair of victories on courts three, 61, 6-1, and six, 6-2, 6-0, and clinched the meeting with a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court two.
The remaining three matches though, were highly competitive. No. 117 Miska Kadleckova was preparing a comeback against No. 31 Julia Garcia, and Zuzanna Kubacha was looking to split sets with No. 60 Florencia Urrutia while Sierra Berry and Chloe Noel were in the thick of a third set.
The Baylor will return to action with a potential NCAA Tournament bid, which will open on May 3 on campus sites. Seedings and match dates and times will be announced on Monday, April 29.
