WACO, Texas -- No. 30 Baylor women's tennis cruised past Iowa State at the Hurd Tennis Center on Friday, defeating the Cyclones 5-2.
The Bears rise to 6-1 in conference play, placing them second in the Big 12, while the Cyclones fall to 2-11 overall and 0-6 in league.
Baylor rallied in doubles to claim the point, with Zuzanna Kubacha and Zuzanna Frankowska securing court three, 6-3, and No. 66-ranked pair Isabella Harvison and Liubov Kostenko taking court two, 6-4. Miska Kadleckova and Danielle Tuhten fought back from a 2-4 deficit to tie court one at 5-5 but were forced to leave the match unfinished.
In singles, Isabella Harvison rushed out to a quick 6-3, 6-0, win on court two. Miska Kadleckova followed up with a 6-1, 6-3, win on court one, and with the 3-0 team lead, Zuzanna Kubacha defeated the Cyclones' Juliette Nask, 6-2, 6-2, to claim the deciding point.
The remaining three courts finished out; Iowa State took courts five and six in back-and-forth third set tiebreakers, Gala Arangio winning court six 6-1, 1-6, 1-0(7), and Valeska San Martin took court five 6-3, 2-6, 1-0(8). Liubov Kostenko finished out the match with a win, taking court the 6(5)-7, 6-0, 1-0(7), wrapping things up 5-2.
The Bears will return to action this Sunday at 1 p.m. to host No. 50 Kansas.
