The Bears’ matchup with the Huskies marked the third against a ranked opponent
SEATTLE – Baylor women's tennis (2-3) dropped a tight match to the No. 21-ranked Washington Huskies (6-0) at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on Sunday, falling 4-2.
In doubles, Washington took courts one and two in 6-3 decisions, leaving court three unfinished at 5-5.
Despite a loss on court three to start singles play, Isabella Harvison found revenge on Sarah-Maude Fortin in a 6-2, 7-5 win on court five to put the Bears on the board and bring Baylor within one. Miska Kadleckova defeated Erika Matsuda on court one, 6-1, 7-6(1), to knot the score at two-all. The senior, who is 4-0 in singles action this spring, has won three-straight at the No. 1 position.
Washington's Alexia Jacobs overcame Sierra Berry to regain the lead for the Huskies, and soon after Melissa Sakar turned away Zuzanna Kubacha's comeback bid to claim the match for Washington, 4-2. Although Danielle Tuhten was trending upwards, court six remained unfinished at 7-6(5), 1-6, 3-1.
The Bears will take the weekend off and return to action on Friday, Feb. 16, to take on Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi, at 2 p.m.
