The Bears hand the Bulldogs their first home loss of the season

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Baylor women's tennis rebounded from Friday's loss to beat Mississippi State, 4-1, to wrap up its seven-game road swing.

The Bears moved to 3-4 on the year and handed the Bulldogs their second loss of the season and first at home.

Baylor clinched the doubles point with decisive wins on courts two and three, 6-0 and 6-2, respectively. The top doubles court was in a 3-3 tie when the point was clinched.

The Bears rushed out to a 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs with quick wins on courts one and three, where Miska Kadleckova defeated Maria Rizzolo 6-2, 6-2, and Isabella Harvison followed up with a 6-4, 6-4, win over Dhrani Niroshan.

Mississippi State's Athina Pitta pulled out the win over Liubov Kostenko in a tight third set tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6(7), needing nine points to claim the set and match. Soon after, Zuzanna Kubacha defeated Alessia Tagliente, 2-6, 7-5, 7-5, to clinch the match for the Bears.

The Bears are home for the first time this season when they host Denver and Incarnate Word for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. Admission to the matches is free for all fans.
