Bears face No. 22 Horned Frogs in Fort Worth
WACO, Texas – No. 14 Baylor volleyball faces No. 22 TCU on Sunday at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth to continue conference play.
The Bears (10-3, 2-0) and Horned Frogs (10-3, 2-1) have many connections with TCU head coach Jason Williams being a part of Ryan McGuyre's staff for seven seasons, the last two as associate head coach.
Williams' wife, Cory Sivertson, is a Hall of Fame Baylor setter. Their daughter, Callie Williams, was also a Baylor setter and spent her fifth year playing for her father at TCU.
Sivertson's sister, Sarah Sivertson, also was a setter for the Bears, and her daughter, Harley Kreck, continues in her family's footsteps.
BU leads the all-time series 22-10 and the series in Waco 9-6, but the Frogs have won the last three meetings.
This is the Bears' fifth ranked matchup of the season. Baylor had a week off from match play while TCU faced Houston on Wednesday night and stopped a reverse sweep from the Cougars, 3-2.
Baylor is 104-44 in Big 12 matches under head coach Ryan McGuyre and have raked in 230 Big 12 wins overall since 1996.
Leading the way for the Bears through 13 matches are senior outside hitter Elise McGhee (146 kills, 21 aces), senior libero Lauren Briseño (202 digs), graduate transfer setter Jackie Barrett Frazier (364 assists) and senior middle blocker Manuela Bibinbe (41 blocks). Briseño earned her second Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award this past week for her performances against Arizona and Arizona State, getting her second-career double-double.
The match will be broadcast on ESPN at 2 p.m., with Paul Sunderland and Jennifer Hoffman on the call. Live stats will be available at BaylorStats.com, with a full recap and final box score uploaded to BaylorBears.com after the conclusion of the match.
