Bears face OU, OSU before next week’s Big 12 Championship
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis closes the regular season on Friday and Sunday in the state of Oklahoma, facing No. 34 OU Friday in Norman and No. 44 OSU on Sunday in Stillwater.
The Bears (16-13 (Big 12 1-2)) enter the match ranked 43rd in the ITA computerized poll, dropping two spots after going 2-2 last weekend at home against No. 1 Texas, No. 2 TCU and Alcorn State
BU and OU enter Friday's dual knotted up at 26 matches each in the all-time series record. Baylor has taken five-straight over the Sooners, including two 4-3 decisions in the 2022 season.
Scouting the Sooners, Alex Martinez is Oklahoma's only ranked player at No. 98 in the ITA ranks.
Baylor has the 31-11 advantage over Oklahoma State, taking 10 wins from the Cowboys over the past decade.
Chase Ferguson and Tyler Zink are ranked 71st in doubles for OSU, while Isaac Becroft leads the Cowboys in singles at 78, followed by Zink at No. 99.
For the Bears, Zsombor Velcz and Tadeas Paroulek find the highest spot at No. 14 in doubles, while Finn Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi are just behind in 24th. In singles, Bass leads at 53, while Paroulek follows at No. 69.
Grassi Mazzuchi leads the Bears in singles wins for the spring at 14, while the Paroulek and Velcz duo is out front in doubles at 17 wins.
