Bears to play Tuesday match versus the Mean Green in Ferrell Center
WACO, Texas – The No. 14-ranked Baylor volleyball program is ready for a Tuesday night matchup with North Texas in the Ferrell Center, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
The Bears (6-2) will face the Mean Green (5-6) as part of an eight-match home swing for BU. It will be the 31st all-time meeting between the two teams, with Baylor leading the series at 22-8 overall and 11-2 when playing at home.
BU is coming off a three-match, 3-0 home sweep of Arizona State, Colorado State and Evansville in the Baylor Invitational for the midweek matchup with UNT. In the last match of the weekend against Evansville, the Bears recorded a program-record attack percentage of .667 over the three sets. The mark also broke the Big 12 single-match record, and was the highest percentage of an NCAA DI match since 2011. Senior outside hitter Lauren Harrison also recorded her 1,000th career kill versus Evansville, having 350 while at North Carolina and 650 as a Bear.
The Bears saw freshman Averi Carlson named MVP of the Invitational, while Mallory Talbert was Best Attacker, Kara McGhee was Best Defender and Lauren Harrison was named All-Tournament.
North Texas comes to Waco fresh off a three-match weekend of its own at the Asics Invitational in Corvallis, Ore. They went 1-2 on the weekend, defeating Portland but falling to host Oregon State and finishing out with a loss to Portland State. The Mean Green is coached by Kristee Porter, who is in her first season in Denton as the head coach, spending the previous two seasons at McNeese in the same role.
The match will be streamed on the Big 12 Now on ESPN+, with former BU All-American Katie Smith and the "Voice of the Bears" John Morris on the call.
