Bears win in season opener for eighth-straight season
WACO, Texas – The defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Baylor acrobatics and tumbling kicked off their season with a 277.930 – 251.305 win over No. 14 Mary Hardin-Baylor at the Ferrell Center on Saturday night.Â

The win makes BU 8-0 in season openers under head coach Felecia Mulkey, all coming in a row.

Baylor scored a 38.00 in the compulsory event to take an early lead, scoring a 9.750 in acro, 9.700 in pyramid, 9.950 in toss, and 8.600 in tumbling. Â

The Bears pushed their lead by scoring a total of 29.500 points in acro, consisting of a 9.950 in the fifth element, 9.750 in the sixth element, and a 9.800 in the seventh element. Â

In pyramid, Baylor kept their lead by outscoring UMHB 29.650 to 28.200. Baylor stayed on top with a total meet score of 97.150 leading into the half.Â

The Bears continued their lead through the toss event, scoring 28.550 for the event.Â

Baylor continued to dominate during the tumbling event, scoring a total of 56.400. Â

The Bears put up a score of 95.830 in the team event to close out the win against UMHB. Â
