THE RUNDOWN
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 10 Baylor volleyball closed out its preseason schedule with a 3-1 exhibition victory against Texas A&M Friday evening at Reed Arena in College Station.
The Bears got out to a strong start and led the Aggies 15-12 at the first media timeout. After a long rally resulted in a BU kill at 21-18, the Bears were able to carry momentum into a 25-22 set win.
TAMU opened the second frame in front, but a big Baylor double block evened the tally at 7-7. The Aggies would retake their lead later in the set and hold off the Bears to take it 25-23, evening the match at one set apiece.
In the third set, Baylor made use of a 9-0 scoring run to build a lead at 22-13 and kept the Aggies in check to take a 25-22 frame and a 2-1 match lead.
The Bears carried that momentum into the fourth, using a 6-0 run to lead 8-2 and took five of the following seven points to go ahead 13-4. An ace at 22-10 all but sealed it, as BU saw out the victory with a seven-point run.

On the exhibition…
"Great first exhibition for us. I thought our seniors looked really good and really clean. It was great to see some phenomenal passing and big blocks. We've got a lot of firepower, so we're still working on finding that rhythm and the right matchups. I thought our energy was great from start to finish throughout the match and it definitely felt like we got better as the match went on."

The Bears will travel to Madison, Wis., to open their season against No. 7 Minnesota on Friday, Aug. 27 at 8:30 p.m. CT.
