LARAMIE, Wyo. – Baylor soccer topped Wyoming, 2-0, Friday evening in Laramie. The match was moved to Wyoming's football indoor facility due to inclement weather. In total, the match was delayed by an hour.
Junior Eva Mitchell put the Bears on the board early with a goal in the sixth minute. Off a corner kick, Mitchell booted the loose ball from 18 yards out into the left corner of the goal.
Baylor added to its lead in the 88th minute as Camryn Wendlandt found the back of the net. It marked the senior's third goal of the season, a team high.
Defensively, the Bears didn't give the Cowgirls much of a chance offensively. In the second half alone, Baylor allowed just one shot by Wyoming as the Bears held a 25-7 edge overall in shots on the night. Elizabeth Kooiman and Halee Sowinski each finished with four shots. Three of Kooiman's looks were on target.
With the win, head coach Paul Jobson moves to the top of the program record books with 79 career coaching victories.
HIGHLIGHTS
6 – Number of years it's been since Wyoming lost a non-conference match at home (Sept. 22, 2013). That unbeaten streak was the longest in the country until Baylor put an end to it on Friday.
