FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor soccer (7-5-3, 3-3-0), propelled by a pair of goals by Raegan Padgett, put on a dominant display in a 4-0 win over TCU (9-5-1, 3-2-1) Sunday night at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
In the middle of the National Anthem, the lightning detectors went off, and both teams returned to their respective locker rooms. After a nearly three-hour delay, the match kicked off.
Baylor made a huge defensive stop in the 31st minute when a foul on the Bears set up a free kick for TCU just outside the box. The Horned Frogs' initial shot was blocked by a wall of Baylor defenders and their second shot went wide of the net.
Two minutes later, Baylor was on the board. Raegan Padgett took control of the ball around midfield and raced toward the TCU goal. Padgett booted the ball from about 25 yards out and her shot soared just under the crossbar for her fourth goal of the season.
Padgett was at it again in the second half. Off a feed by Camryn Wendlandt, Padgett kicked the over the head of the approaching TCU goalkeeper and into the back of the net for her second goal of the night. It marked the first multi-goal game of her Baylor career.
Elena Reyna put the Bears up by three in the 67th minute with her second goal of the season. Reyna fielded a rebound off a shot by Maddie Algya and finished in the bottom left corner of the goal.
Danielle Hayden topped off the action when she received a penalty kick in the 83rd minute. Hayden kicked her shot to the right of the net while the TCU goalkeeper dove the opposite way.
Baylor finished with a 19-10 advantage in shots, with nine of those attempts on goal. TCU only had two shots on goal. Both of them came in the first half as the Horned Frogs recorded only three shot attempts in the second half.
