Bears lifted to victory over Sun Devils on second half goal
THE RUNDOWN
TUCSON, Ariz. – Baylor soccer (5-2-0) used a second-half goal to knock off Arizona State (2-2-0), 1-0, on Friday afternoon at Mulcahy Stadium on the campus of the University of Arizona.
Despite leading 12-5 in shots, 8-3 in shots on goal, and a season-high 11-2 in corner kicks, the Bears couldn't find traction until the second half, finally breaking through in the 59th minute.
Baylor drew a foul just a few feet outside of the penalty arc at the top of the 18, with senior captain Julie James lining up to take the kick for BU.
James connected on a hooking shot that raced beyond the reach of the ASU keeper and found the net for what would stand as the game winning goal.
