Bears face Mean Green in seventh consecutive home match at the Ferrell Center

WACO, Texas – 12th-ranked Baylor volleyball team will continue nonconference action with a Tuesday night matchup against North Texas, starting at 6 p.m. CT at the Ferrell Center.
The match will be streamed live on the team's official Facebook page (@BaylorVball).
Tickets for Tuesday's match will be $5 for general admission and $3 for groups of 12 or more.
BAYLOR HOSTS NORTH TEXAS IN TUESDAY MATCHUP
• Baylor volleyball will face North Texas in a non-conference matchup Tuesday night, looking for its fourth consecutive win over the Mean Green.
• The Bears look to start the season 4-0 for the first time since 2012.
• Fourth-year head coach Ryan McGuyre will play his third match in four years against North Texas.
• Baylor is 2-0 against the Mean Green under McGuyre.
BEARS GARNER PROGRAM-BEST NO. 12 AVCA RANKING
• After a 3-0 start to the season for the first time since 2012, Baylor volleyball is ranked a program-best No. 12 in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll, released Monday afternoon.
• The No. 12 ranking shatters the previous the all-time program record set in 2009 at No. 17.
• During that season, BU was ranked for 10 straight weeks and peaked at No. 17, which stood as the program-high ranking for eight years in the 36-year history of the AVCA poll.
• The Bears are ranked for the 28th time in program history and have been listed in the poll for seven straight weeks dating back to the 2017 season.
• Baylor earned a preseason ranking for only the second time in program history and first since its No. 21 ranking in 2000, coming in at No. 16 on Aug. 8.
• Baylor has 11 matches slated against ranked opponents or teams receiving votes, including: No. 2 Texas, No. 8 Wisconsin, No. 10 UCLA, No. 19 San Diego, Iowa State, LSU, Marquette and Kansas.
• Dating back to last season, the Bears are playing in their 16th consecutive match as a ranked team.
• The 2017 Bears were the first Baylor team since 2009 to make an appearance in the poll. During that season, BU was ranked for 10 straight weeks and peaked at No. 17, which still stands as the program-high ranking in the 35-year history of the AVCA poll.
• Baylor recorded wins over four ranked opponents in 2017, besting No. 10 BYU in five sets on Sept. 9, sweeping No. 20 Iowa State in Ames on Oct. 4, sweeping No. 19 Iowa State in Waco on Nov. 4 and taking down No. 11 Kansas in straight sets on Nov. 11.
• In 2017, the Bears were 9-3 as a ranked team.
• The Bears ended the 2017 season with a No. 21 AVCA ranking.
FANNING TABBED BIG 12 CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• After a stellar opening weekend, redshirt junior middle blocker Shelly Fanning was named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
• Fanning earns her third career weekly honor from the conference as she was named Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 13, 2017 and Rookie of the Week on Sept. 21, 2015.
• The Cypress, Texas native was the top attacker in the Big 12 last weekend, hitting an impressive .559 and totaled 41 kills on 59 attempts with only three errors.
• In the Bears' Friday night win over LSU, Fanning went 15-for-22 with no errors and posted the fourth-best single-match attack percentage in program history (.682).
• She followed up that performance with 11 kills against Texas State, and then posted 15 kills on 26 attempts with one error against Marquette to help BU win the Hampton Inn & Suites Waco North Baylor Invitational title. She was named the tournament's Best Attacker.
• The 2017 squad compiled a program-record 15 honors in a single season.

• To open the season, Baylor volleyball captured a four-set victory over LSU in front of a record-breaking crowd Friday night at the Ferrell Center, winning 25-19, 13-25, 25-15, 25-21.
• Breaking a record that only lasted 364 days, the team drew 3,858 fans and shattered the previous No. 1 at 3,617 against No. 15 Florida State last season.
• Offensively, redshirt junior Shelly Fanning posted the fourth-best single-match hitting percentage in program history, hitting .682 with 15 kills on 22 attacks with no errors.
• Baylor volleyball went 2-0 to close out play at the Hampton Inn & Suites Waco North Baylor Invitational with victories over Texas State and Marquette Saturday at the Ferrell Center.
• In addition to earning the tournament title after going undefeated all weekend, sophomore Yossiana Pressley (Tournament MVP, High Scorer) and redshirt junior Shelly Fanning (Best Attacker) garnered individual honors.
• Against Texas State, BU was led by Yossiana Pressley who posted her first 20-kill performance of the season, hitting .421 and using eight kills in the second set to help BU grab the crucial 2-0 lead.
• BU opened its nightcap match with its longest set since Nov. 19, 2016 when the Bears needed six set points to convert and take the 33-31 victory and eventually the 3-1 win over (RV) Marquette.
• Yossiana Pressley closed out the tournament with another 20-kill match, and juniors Hannah Fluegel (25 assists) and Tara Wulf (20 digs) totaled new career highs.
MCGUYRE CAPTURES CAREER WIN NO. 400
• Head coach Ryan McGuyre surpassed 400 career wins on Saturday, now sitting at 401-165 in his 17th year as a collegiate women's head coach.
• McGuyre has been a collegiate head coach at three spots: Biola, Cal Baptist and Baylor.
