Bears continue record-breaking run in national ranks
WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer closed out another undefeated weekend at home, entering the final game of the regular season as the No. 10 team in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches national poll, announced Tuesday by the organization.
BU also improved on its program-record NCAA Rating Percentage Index, jumping to No. 4 in the country in RPI.
Baylor's average RPI win of 60 is the highest in the country by nearly 20 points and the Bears hold the third-toughest strength of schedule ranking. All four of BU's losses have come to teams in the Top 25 of the RPI.
The Bears are one spot off of the program record ranking, dating back to a No. 9 ranking in 2013, the first year of the co-head coaching tenure of Marci and Paul Jobson.
The Big 12 took over the crown as the nation's top soccer conference, helped by strong RPI rankings up and down the league's standings.
Baylor's final regular season match pits the Bears versus Oklahoma (No. 79 in RPI), a match in which BU can secure at least a share of the regular season title, the second-ever for the program and its first in 20 years (1998).
