THE RUNDOWN
LUBBOCK, Texas -
Finding success in the sprints and field events, the Baylor track and field teams closed out the regular season portion of its 2017 outdoor schedule at the Red Raider Shootout Friday.

Winning a total of four events, the Bears also had a pair of marks that moved athletes up into the top-10 performers for the NCAA during the 2017 season.

The Bears swept the 200-meter event titles with Taylor Bennett cruising to a victory in 22.87. On the men's side, Maxwell Willis produced a personal-best time of 20.19 in route to winning the title. That mark was just .01 seconds away from getting on BU's all-time top-10 performance list and is also the third-best in the NCAA for 2017.

For the fifth-straight meet, Cion Hicks won the shot put event title. Hicks saved her best for last by uncorking a throw of 56-1.75 [17.11m] on her final attempt. That mark is just shy of her school record mark set earlier this season, but is still the third-best in school history.

Despite placing second in the event, senior Rachel Toliver established a new personal-best in the triple jump with a leap of 44-5.25 [13.54m]. Toliver destroyed her previous PR of 42-1.5 [12.84m], which she set at the 2016 Ricardo Romo Invitational and notched the seventh-best jump in the NCAA for 2017. The mark was also the ninth-best tally in school history.

In other field events, Annie Rhodes won the pole vault with a clearance 13-9.25 [4.20m].
