BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening statement...

"I thought in the last 10 minutes we started to get some rhythm and got back in the game. We had some opportunities down the stretch. When we haven't been good offensively, we have been very good defensively and in rebounding, which has allowed us to stay closer to where when we did turn it on offensively, we could come back. If you're playing against a team in this league for only 10 minutes, you're not going to win and if it comes down to one possession, you're not going to win them all. We have to do a better job from the jump. We knew coming in that this was a big game and we can't be flat and at the end of the day, Kansas State came out, punched us in the mouth and we didn't respond until the last 10 minutes of the game."

On recovering from the Kansas game...
"We were not as energized as we have been to start games. Coaches will look at what we could have done better. We will look at changing up something we thought was not working, or next game we may change up our routine a little bit. The biggest thing is we have been so good at home, so this one hurts."

On the slow start...
"I think you have to credit their defense. They were more aggressive in the first half. They had seven second-chance points and we had none. That and defensive rebounding are our staples. We could have done a better job being aggressive in the first half. The things that have helped us win games all year hurt us today."

Junior F Johnathan Motley
On the last possession...

"It was pretty tough. They played some good defense. I just have to dunk the ball. If I had gone up to dunk it, I would have scored. The passes were where they needed to be."

On Kansas State's defense...
"They play great inside defense and packed the paint pretty well. That's their philosophy and they executed it well."

Junior G Manu Lecomte
On the slow start...

"We didn't start with as much energy as we had in the last 10 minutes. It's a good team and they made some tough shots. We needed to make some more stops."

KANSAS STATE POSTGAME QUOTES

Kansas State Head Coach Bruce Weber
On Baylor...

"They are so tough. Scott [Drew] has done an unbelievable job. He should be coach of the year in my opinion. They've got toughness and every game is the same ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" it comes down to the end. Even the Kansas game the other day came down to the end."

On K-State's hot start...
"I think the first 16 minutes were some of the best we have played maybe since early in the year. When you talk about playing one of the top two or three teams in the country on their court, and you are up 16, 18 points, you've got to be pretty impressed."

On the tough finish...
"We won a different way. We won grinding it out and gutting it out. I talked about a boxing match. You've got to win that 10th round, because usually they win it. That's why they have 20-whatever wins they have."

Freshman G Kamau Stokes
On their hot start...

"We definitely needed to do that. We have been getting off to some pretty bad starts. This game we came out with the right energy and the right mindset to get the job done."

On his big shot in the final minutes...
"It was a great screen by D.J. [Johnson]. He gave me the opportunity against TCU and that fell short. I knew I was going to make this one."

Sophomore F Dean Wade
On their hot start...

"It was big. It was good to start off our defensive intensity that high. It gave us confidence because defense turns to offense. So we just ran and it gave us confidence all game."

On the pressure on him...
"The pressure I put on myself was more of a just play hard and defensive pressure. My defense has been lacking the past couple games. As long as I focus on defense and rebounding the other things will come."
