BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On dominance inside against a bigger teamÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"We knew they were big and that they had big girls who could bang in there with Kalani (Brown) and (Lauren) Cox, so in the scouting report we prepared them. Up to this point they've seen smaller post play. I thought that Kalani caught the ball well, I thought she positioned herself well offensively, she got the 10 rebounds. But the impressive thing is we had 21 offensive boards as a team. The unimpressive thing was we had too many turnovers with 17. We created 20, which is outstanding but there were some turnovers that I know some of them would like to take back."

Shot selection, limiting the offensive options out of the paintÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"I thought our defense was active except for the very beginning when Natalie kept running into that pick at the top. I took her out and told her we weren't going to have that, you either get over or under. We cleaned it up a little bit, but I thought we were active defensively. We didn't allow a lot of dribble penetration and when they did get in there, we didn't foul. I thought holding them to 49 points was, I don't care who you play, that's playing a lot of defense."

On Alexis Morris and Kristy WallaceÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"Alexis Morris has not played like a freshman since she's been here. She has been able to relieve some pressure off of Kristy. Kristy has to do it all. She has to guard the best perimeter player, she has to be our leader, she's our captain and she does it all. Sometimes just letting Kristy come over by me, now today she was in foul trouble, but that's okay. She has prepared Alexis in practice, they go at it every day in practice and we don't miss a beat. We are a better team obviously when we can play both of them at the same time, but when Kristy has to rest or Kristy gets in foul trouble, Alexis has stepped up and not played like a freshman."

Junior Kalani Brown
On staying out of foul trouble against a physical post presenceÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"It is very difficult because they throw their body into you. I just have to play smart. I know my team needs me on the floor and I try to keep my hands up and move away from the contact as much as I could. It was working for me."

Freshman Alexis Morris
On the double-double and crashing the boardsÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬ ¦
"I know I have to be prepared to come off the bench and produce. Like when Kristy gets in foul trouble, I know I need to bring a lot to the table. I can't come into the game lolly-gagging or unfocused. I try to come in, produce and do what coach Mulkey says."

TEXAS TECH POSTGAME QUOTES

TTU Head Coach Candi Whitaker
Opening Statement
"Baylor is really good, I mean they have a chance to do something special. They're always good, but I think this year they're really good. They're going to make shots, there are no deficiencies, they've got great guards, they've got great inside players. They've got a lot of weapons that are hard to guard and they're good. I think our team competed. We gave them too many things in transition, but they're a really good transition team, they're hard to stop in transition. I think we had a lot of people get better in this game as far as our team is concerned and we can move forward."

Thoughts on Baylor's play on both the perimeter and the inside...
"How do you stop Kalani (Brown) and Cox? I mean, that combo is really good and they work really hard and Kalani (Brown) is in great shape. You can choose to double team, but I've seen her split double teams like butter. You have to pick your poison if you are going to double team and we just wanted to keep a body on body and see if we could be physical with her, but she's really good and really efficient, obviously."
