2017 All-Big 12 Awards
IRVING, Texas - Baylor soccer (10-5-2, 4-4-1 Big 12) had four student-athletes earn Big 12 postseason awards, announced Monday afternoon by the conference office.
Precious Akanyirige, Aline De Lima, and Julie James were named to the 2017 All-Big 12 First Team, setting a new program record for the most first team selections in a single-season.
Jennifer Wandt earned the goalkeeper selection on the 2017 Big 12 All-Freshman team, the second freshman Baylor GK to earn the nod as the Big 12's top freshman keeper (Courtney Seelhorst, 2008) and the first true freshman GK to do so.
James became just the third BU student-athlete to earn two or more All-Big 12 first team selections (Courtney Saunders, 1997-1999, and Dawn Greathouse, 1998, 2000). She joins Saunders as the only two to have earned the top team selection in consecutive seasons.
Akanyirige and De Lima both earned their first All-Big 12 team selections, with Akanyirige previously named to the All-Freshman team in her debut season (2014).
Baylor tied with West Virginia for the most first team selections, while BU took home two out of the three midfielder spots.
