BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Scott Drew
On possibility of No. 1 rankingà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Our goal is not the ranking, our goal is, like every team, to win the Big 12 Championship. That's four straight Big 12 games that came down to one possession, and that's Big 12 basketball. Everybody would like to be ranked No. 1, but at the end of the year, that ranking means a lot more."

On discussion during final timeout...
"We wanted to make sure we took the clock down as much as possible. We wanted to make sure we knew what defense we were going to be in and what play we were gonna run. We did all that, and we trust our players to make the right reads and make the right decisions."

On playing close games in the regular season...
"Those are huge. At the end of the year, if you look at any successful team, they won close games. If you're a good team, you win close games. You're going to lose some too, but you need to win some to get confidence as well."

Junior Manu Lecomte
On the last shot...
"I had a good feel for it, but I was waiting for it to go in to celebrate. My teammates and coaches believe in me to make the right plays, so I had to go make the right play."

On being down six points late...
"We kept fighting until the end. The team had a lot of energy on the bench. People coming off the bench, TJ and Jake and all them, played great. We just kept fighting. That's us. I thought we did a great job."

Junior Johnathan Motley
On importance of potential No. 1 ranking...
"We're not really about the rankings. We just go out and compete every day. We're now focused on Oklahoma State, and we're doing everything we can to make sure we get the W."

On size advantage in the postà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We definitely take advantage of our size with me and Jo and TJ coming in off the bench. They did a good job packing in the paint, and they left our guards open, and we got to shoot wide-open shots."

IOWA STATE POSTGAME QUOTES

Iowa State Head Coach Steve Prohm
On the loss à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We were just running offense. You got to make plays at some point. We didn't have the timing, and the zone attack wasn't very good. We kept getting stagnant at the top, and the ball needed to go to the corner, move it, drag it up, and drive it. That's when we were better. When we were moving the ball a lot better, when we went through those scoring spurts. Plus, also the other time we were very good in transition."

On how he felt coming into the gameà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Our kids did everything they were asked. I felt really good coming down here. I thought we would have a great chance to win. It's easy to say that now, but anybody you talk to that knows meà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦ I felt great about going into it. We had great preparation. We have to go give the same effort on Saturday against Texas. I'm sure they're going to be hungry."

Guard Nazareth Mitrou-Long
On adjusting to a team of this sizeà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We played together, passing the ball, getting into the gaps, and we were being aggressive."

On how they were able to push back against Baylorà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We had to just turn up the aggression. We all looked ourselves in the mirror in the locker room, guys were challenging each other. It just came down to heart. Heart over height. That's been one of our mottos all year. We came out in the second half and guys just took it upon themselves and became initiators."

Guard Deonte Burton
On coming back strong in the second halfà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Well, I didn't foul. I stayed engaged on the bench. That's a big part of basketball. We're a really good team, so anybody can get the job done for us. So you just have to stay engaged."
