TEMPE, Ariz. - For the ninth consecutive season, the Baylor men's tennis team earned ITA All-Academic team recognition, while six players, Jimmy Bendeck, Julian Lenz, Tommy Podvinski, Felipe Rios Tyler Stayer and Max Tchoutakian, were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Thursday.

To be recognized, the Bears had to have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above.

Individually, Lenz and Rios received their second-straight Scholar-Athlete designation and the four other Bears earned the honor for the first time by maintaining a 3.50 GPA for the recently completed academic year.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must also be a varsity letter winner, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.

As announced last month, Bendeck was one of 39 Baylor athletes to have a 4.0 GPA for the spring semester. As a whole, the men's team placed seven representatives on the Baylor Dean's List and all of its players on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
