THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Four Baylor track and field athletes were in action on the second day of the Ricardo Romo Invitational Friday at the Park West Athletics Complex.
Cion Hicks closed out the day for BU by placing third in the shot put competition with a throw of 53-1.25 [16.20m]. The junior bettered her mark from the season-opening TCU Invitational by nearly three feet as she placed sixth in last week's competition with a throw of 50-4.5 [15.35m]. Hicks achieved her best throw of the competition, which currently ranks 10th-best in the NCAA, on her final attempt of the day.
Meanwhile on the men's side in the shot put, Desmine Hilliard placed eighth with a best throw of 51-9.25 [15.78m].
In the conclusion of the decathlon competition, Chase Hood (5,893 pts.) and Hunter Powell (5,882 pts.) finished third and fourth among collegiates, respectively. Hood racked up a large sum of his points with the top pole vault clearance (15-1 [4.60m]) and the second-best javelin throw (159-9 [48.70m]).

On the final day of the Ricardo Romo Invitational, field events start at 10 a.m. and running events begin at 2 p.m.
