WACO, Texas - Following a successful indoor season, the Baylor track and field team will open the 2016 outdoor season with a large contingent of athletes competing at the TCU Invitational on Thursday and Friday in Fort Worth, Texas.

BU is slated to have 28 women's athletes and 29 men's athletes in action. The two-day meet at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex also features host TCU, along with Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, Harvard, North Texas, SMU, Texas, Texas State, Texas Tech and UT Arlington.

The invitational meet will open for BU on Thursday afternoon with the women's discus competition starting at 3:30 p.m. BU will have two competitors in that field and then one athlete in the men's discus, which will follow the women's portion. On Friday, the field events will begin at 9 a.m., while running events start up at 1 p.m.

The switch to outdoor competition will include a variety of different events from the indoor season. The field events will include the discus, javelin and hammer throw, while on the track the 4x100-meter relay, 100/110-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles will all be contested for the first time.

The Bears are coming off having four athletes garner five All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships, highlighted by freshman Wil London's two All-American performances. Last season at the TCU Invitational, Baylor athletes won six event titles.

After competing at TCU, Baylor will head south to San Antonio for the Ricardo Romo Invitational, which is hosted by UT San Antonio March 24-26.
