SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Baylor senior forward Taurean Prince has been named one of 10 finalists for the second-annual Karl Malone Award, which is presented to the nation's top power forward by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

A four-year letterwinner from San Antonio, Texas, Prince is averaging a team-best 15.1 points per game in 3.0 minutes per game. He ranks second on the team with 5.9 rebounds per game and 1.6 steals per game and third on the Bears with 2.5 assists per game.

Prince is the Big 12 Conference's only player ranked in the league's top 20 in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. He ranks fifth in the conference in scoring, ninth in steals, 11th in rebounds and 18th in assists. His .839 free throw percentage ranks fifth in the league and is currently the 10th-best single-season free throw percentage in program history.

Prince became the 30th 1,000-point scorer in program history while leading the Bears to a win at Iowa State on Jan. 9, and he currently ranks 23rd on Baylor's all-time scoring list with 1,114 career points. His current .379 career 3-point percentage ranks eighth on Baylor's all-time list, and he's tied for sixth with 31 Big 12 Conference wins and tied for eighth with 81 career victories.

The 10 Malone Award finalists will be narrowed to five in March, and the winner of the award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles on April 8.
