BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Scott Drew

On not having Rico Gathersà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Well probably getting outscored 15-6 on the second chance points and outrebounded 35-25. I really credit the upper classmen for stepping up. Taurean [Prince], Lester [Medford] and [Johnathan] Motley battled as much as they could inside. Offensively, we were very good when we did not turn it over. ."

On answering K-State's runsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"[Johnathan] Motley had a big offensive rebound and an and-one. Lester [Medford] had a big, three free throws. Taurean [Prince] has eight shots and has 18 points and Al [Freeman] has seven shots and has 21 points. That is efficient offense."

On getting back on trackà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I love the free throw shooting. The players were really focused tonight and it started with the upper classmen. They were determined out there."

Forward Taurean Prince

On battling adversityà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I think it was the leadership. It goes back to those guys who are relentlessly getting on guys not in a negative way, but in a positive way. Just letting them know they are doing a good job and continue to do what you need to do to win. Every time we broke the huddle it was either, 'defense on three', 'win on three' or 'finish.' So, we stepped up and did that. Al [Freeman] did a good job on defense, he came up with a big steal. Mot [Johnathan Motley] got a big offensive rebound, so you tie it all together and we got a big win."

On ending two-game losing streakà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We are hungry every game, whether we lose five in a row or win five in a row. We are just that type of team. We have a good staff that prepares us the right way and good teammates that know what to do and are relentless. They are willing to learn and putting that together makes for a good game."

On being a top team in the Big 12...
"It is expected, because we did not expect to lose the last two games that we did lose. We are back, we have been comfortable. It is about getting those wins and people underestimate how tough the Big 12 is. On any given night, anybody can lose. If you do not come to play, you can be the one taking a 'L'. We came in with a certain mindset, I could tell we were focused: the walk through, in the hotel and to when we came to shoot around this morning. Everyone was locked in. It was a lot more loving instead of being negative towards people and negative comments on the bench. There are guys that want to win, and when you do that, you are going to win games

Guard Al Freeman

On playing Kansas Stateà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We knew it was going to be a tough game by how the game went last time at our place ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" going to double overtime. They get 50-50 balls, they crash the offensive glass. We knew it was going to be a competitive game in every aspect. We knew it was going to be a game of runs. When we went up we knew they were going to come back and try to hit us with something. Every time they did, we just wanted to make sure we got a good shot. I feel like we played great, unselfish offense. I am really proud of my team today."

On being a top team in the Big 12à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Losing those two games was tough, but like TP [Taurean Prince] said, 'the Big 12 is so competitive that you can lose any given night.' There are so many great teams, tough teams and competitive teams. Not every team is going to make every shot each night. I think that a majority of the teams in the Big 12 have a lot of dog in them, they compete every single game. We have the second half of conference. We are looking forward to the next game. We play to win the game, every game we play we will prepare to win and come out and compete to win. We know there are teams ahead of us, but we know we have a second chance at them."
