Seth Russell, QB

On if it is an ongoing process of being on same page as receivers...
"Definitely. Definitely. I mean, we have some young guys out wide and they want make big plays and sometimes you have to be able to make the small play first. We've been working on that this last week, these past couple of weeks, actually."

On expecting a hostile atmosphere in Austin and if team is prepared for it...
"Every away game is going to be a hostile environment just because you have fans that don't want you to win and we have to block that out and I feel like we've done a good job of that so far. With this being a Texas game, being a rival game, we expect it to be a little more intense than the other games. So we are expecting that going into it and just trying to focus on winning the game."

On first start against Texas and meaning of game to him...
"It's another game. It doesn't matter if it was Iowa State, whoever it is, it's just another football game and you have to put emotions aside and focus on football."

On how he and team deal with off the field issues that may distract them...
"Well, you know, we can't control those things and so there's no reason to really worry about them. You know all the outside distractions are just distractions and we can't focus on those. They're on the outside, they're not on the inside, they're not affecting us any on the field."

Ryan Reid, CB

On the atmosphere down in Austinà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Every time we go to Texas, it's going to be hostile, but we're going to be ready."

On bye weeksà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I'm well-rested. We're going to go on a big stretch and play some good teams. I'm just focused on what's happening this Saturday."

On what he expects from the Texas offenseà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I expect to see a talented team. They're fast and they're really good. They turned their whole offensive scheme over, but we're going to be ready for them. It does help a little bit that run a similar scheme as us and we get to practice against that every day, but everyone has their own twitches to their offense. We'll be ready."

On his leadership role with the younger defensive backsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"They all look upon me to teach them the right things and let them know when they're doing something wrong. If Coach (Carlton) Buckels is on the other side of the football field coaching somebody else, I know what he's talking about, so I can look over my shoulder and tell them what's going on."

On improving throughout his careerà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I started off a little shaky, and that's okay. We move on, and I'm going to go out there and prove myself. I never told myself I couldn't. You always push yourself and that's one thing I do."

Aiavion Edwards, LB

On going on road and playing in a hostile environmentà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Just about every conference game we're going to play in is going to be a hostile environment. We don't have fans there so we have to be ready to fight, bring our own energy and get ready to play."

On if playing Texas means moreà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We just have to focus on the next win, the next game, so it's huge anyway you look at it. We're trying to focus on taking care of business and going down there and getting a win."

On growing up in Texas and playing 'The University of'à ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"After playing here, and playing in the Big 12, you respect all the teams. They're the next team up, so we just have to handle our business."

On the way CB Ryan Reid has playedà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"He's been amazing. The whole secondary, especially him, frees up a lot for us up front. We can take care of the run, and we have a lot of faith in those guys to handle anything that happens downfield. It makes it a lot easier on us and doesn't put as much stress on us to cover because those guys are just playing lights out lately."

On blocking out distractionsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We have a great staff and great guys on the team that help us focus on ourselves and the team. Moving forward, we're able to focus on playing football and continuing to win games."

On if success of football team has been healing or awkward in the wake of distractionsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"It's nice and relaxing to be able to play football and not worry about too much else. We're moving forward through everything and sticking together through it all."
