WACO, Texas -
Baylor track and field athletes made the inaugural meet at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium memorable by winning 14 event titles during the Baylor Invitational Friday.

Before a crowd of 1,621 spectators, the Bears shined on a windy afternoon in Waco. Triple jumper Brianna Richardson highlighted the day by turning in an NCAA-best triple jump of 43-9.25 [13.34m] to win the event title by over three feet. Richardson recorded the personal-best jump on her third leap of the day. The junior's mark is currently eighth-best in the world for 2015.

After burning up the track with an NCAA-leading 9.90 in the 100 meters last week, Trayvon Bromell made his 2015 debut in the 200 meters Friday with the country's third-best time of 20.56 to claim the crown.

Bryce Grace posted a season-best time of 13.71 in the 110-hurdles to squeeze out a win by .02 seconds. The junior's time is currently fourth-best in the NCAA for 2015.

In the distance events, Maggie Montoya blew away the field in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:24.98. That was a personal-best mark for the sophomore and only 2.54 seconds off the school record of Sandy Forsythe from 1986.

Baylor closed out the meet in the same way it closed out its old facility, Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex, - winning the men's 4x400-meter relay.

The BU quartet of Brandon Moore, Kevin Harris, Richard Gary and George Caddick produced a time of 3:09.57 to win by over two seconds. After Moore got the Bears the lead on the opening leg. Harris then extended that advantage and Gary and Caddick held the margin for the victory.

Coming into the meet with the NCAA's best 400-meter time, Caddick was just .03 seconds off his season-best time by running a 46.29 to win the quarter-mile crown.

Two current school-record holders didn't break their own records on Friday, but they did win events. First, Felix Obi claimed the men's triple jump crown with the third-best leap in school history at 52-4 [15.95m], while Annie Rhodes took the pole vault crown by clearing 13-9.25 [4.20m]. That marks is also third-best in school history.

Brandon Moore had an up-down-up race in the 800 meters, after leading for most of his first lap he found himself in second with just over 100 meter to go. From there, the junior kicked it into gear to claim the top spot with a time of 1:51.39.

The Bears owned the 4x100-meter relays. First, the women's crew of Tiffani McReynolds, Kehri Jones, Juanita Mainoo and Justise Dayries raced to a season-best time of 45.38 to finish first. Next, the men's quartet of Malik Wilson, Harris, Grace and Bromell posted a time of 40.20 to claim the title.

Most of the sprint and hurdle times were run with the wind over the allowable limit (+2.0 m/s) to qualify for the meet, collegiate, American and world record books. However, all the races were under the allowable limit (+4.0 m/s) for the Baylor record book and as a qualifying mark for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships.

Other winners for the Bears included Kiana Hawn in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.22, Matt League in the 1,500-meter race with a mark of 3:56.71 and Derwin Graham with a personal-best time of 8:44.07 to win the 3,000-meters.

OTHER NOTABLES
? Richardson and Obi both recorded top-five finishes in the long jump as well.
? Cion Hicks was top-five in the shot put and discus with throws of 50-2 [15.29m] (4th) and 168-7 [51.38m] (3rd), respectively.
? Baylor athletes set 15 personal-best marks.
? Baylor athletes set 43 season-best times.

TOP QUOTE #1
"I don't know how we could have had a better first meet. It was an awesome day and a great way to open up the new facility. We had a lot of highlights on the track, but the crowd was really a highlight for me - to see how much they enjoyed it and got into it. I don't know if I can remember a crowd getting into a meet like this one did today." - head coach Todd Harbour on the meet

WHAT'S NEXT
The Bears will take next week off before hosting the Michael Johnson Classic on April 18 at Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.
