IRVING, Texas - Following a victory in the 100-meter dash at the Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Baylor track and field sophomore Trayvon Bromell was tabbed the Big 12 Male Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced on Wednesday.

Bromell shares this week's honor with Kansas' Michael Stigler and Texas Tech's JaCorian Duffield.

For a second-straight year, Bromell won the Texas Relays 100-meter dash Saturday in Austin. He became just the fourth person to repeat as champion in the 40-year history of the event at the meet.

Bromell was the fastest qualifier on Friday with a world-leading time of 10.02 and then, with the aid of a strong tail-wind, Bromell produced a time of 9.90 to take the title. Bromell's 9.90 time is .12 seconds faster than anyone in the NCAA for 2015 and his 10.02 mark is .07 seconds better than anyone else in the world for 2015.

The St. Petersburg, Fla., native was also a member of Baylor's 4x100-meter relay and sprint medley relay teams at the Texas Relays. He was the anchor leg for the 4x1 crew, which placed fourth in a time of 39.22. That mark is fourth-best in the NCAA for 2015. He ran the opening leg for the sprint medley team that took third with the fifth-fastest time in school history at 3:15.99.

The honor is the third outdoor accolade of Bromell's career, adding to his recognitions from March 26, 2014 and April 2, 2014.

Bromell becomes the first Baylor male athlete to be honored with the outdoor honor three times. He joins Tiffani McReynolds and Skylar White as the only BU athletes to be recognized with three outdoor athlete awards in their career.

Baylor has now won three weekly awards from the Big 12 this year. The women's distance medley relay crew was honored during the indoor season and McReynolds won the outdoor honor last week.

Over 12 years of the outdoor award's existence, Baylor has had six male athletes honored 10 times.

Baylor's athletes are preparing for the Baylor Invitational, which will be held Friday in Waco. It is the inaugural meet at Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.
