March 25, 2015 IRVING, Texas - After establishing an NCAA-leading time Friday at the TCU Invitational, Baylor hurdler Tiffani McReynolds was named the Big 12 Female Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced on Wednesday.
In her return to collegiate action, the senior logged a time of 13.12 to clinch the 100-meter hurdle crown. That time is best in the NCAA in the young 2015 outdoor season. Not factoring for wind, McReynolds' 13.12 would also be the fourth-fastest time clocked in the world. After sitting out the indoor season due to exhausted eligibility, she won the event by .6 seconds. McReynolds also placed fifth in the 100-meter dash (11.91) on the day.
She is BU's first female winner of the outdoor honor since Skylar White was recognized on April 24, 2013.
The honor is the third outdoor accolade of McReynolds' career, adding to her recognitions from April 12, 2010 and March 28, 2012. McReynolds joins White as the only two BU female athletes to be honored with an outdoor award three times in a career.
Baylor has now won two weekly awards from the Big 12 this season. The women's distance medley relay crew was honored during the indoor season earlier this year.
Since 2001, five different Baylor women have won eight weekly awards.
Baylor's athletes are in the midst of competing at the Texas Relays, which continue Thursday in Austin.
