WACO, Texas - Both the Baylor men's and women's track and field teams made the preseason edition of the USTFCCCA Outdoor Team Rankings, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The BU men are ranked No. 13 and racked up a total of 122.80 points in the computer-based rankings. Meanwhile, the Baylor women are ranked 10th with 147.22 points.

The point tally is based on 2014 outdoor performances from each team's top talent and top marks from the current outdoor season.

Baylor's No. 10 listing for the women is the program's highest preseason ranking since being No. 6 to start the 2010 outdoor campaign. It is the team's overall highest ranking since being No. 9 late in the 2011 season. For the men, the No. 13 ranking is it highest preseason mark since being No. 12 to open the 2012 outdoor season.

Last outdoor season, the women opened at No. 25, before finishing 14th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. On the men's side, the Bears were ranked No. 17 in the preseason poll, but placed eighth at the NCAA meet.

The Baylor women's points came from a myriad of athletes, highlighted by Rachel Johnson's fourth-rated 3,000-meter steeplechase performance and her eighth-best 5,000-meter race. Tiffani McReynolds owns the No. 2 time in the 100-hurdles, while Brianna Richardson's triple jump nets over 21 points as it is rated sixth-best. The 4x400-relay team is eighth.

This is the fourth straight season that the Baylor women have been in the preseason top 25. BU is the second-highest ranked Big 12 team behind only No. 3 Texas.

On the men's side, points came from the 2014 marks of sophomore Trayvon Bromell, who the computer credits with the fastest time in the 100-meters and the third-best mark in the 200-meter dash. After being injured in 2014, junior Felix Obi's ninth-place sitting in the triple jump from a 2013 mark bolstered the overall team ranking. Meanwhile, Baylor's 4x100-meter relay team was eighth and the 4x400-meter relay team ranked 14th. Other scoring athletes for the Bears included Bryce Grace, who was seventh in the 110 hurdles. From the current season, sophomore George Caddick's 400-meter dash was ranked 23rd-best by the computers.

The Bears are the fourth-highest ranked Big 12 team behind No. 5 Texas, No. 10 Texas Tech and No. 12 Oklahoma State.

Baylor opened its outdoor season last week at the TCU Invitational and will be back in action Wednesday at the Texas Relays in Austin.
