WACO, Texas - Following a successful indoor season, the Baylor track and field team will open the 2015 outdoor season with a multitude of athletes competing at the TCU Invitational on Thursday and Friday in Fort Worth, Texas.

BU is slated to have 30 women's athletes and 27 men's athletes in action. The two-day meet at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex also features TCU and Kansas State, along with Abilene Christian, North Texas, SMU, Texas State and UT-Arlington.

The invitational meet will open on Thursday afternoon with the women's discus competition starting at noon. BU will have three competitors in that field and that will be BU's only action on the first day. On Friday, the field events will begin at 9:30 a.m., while running events start up at 1 p.m.

The switch to outdoor competition will include a variety of different events from the indoor season. The field events will include the discus, javelin and hammer throw, while on the track the 4x100-meter relay, 100/110-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles will all be contested for the first time.

The Bears are coming off having eight athletes garner 10 All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships last week. The meet was highlighted by Trayvon Bromell's 200-meter title, while Rachel Johnson was second in the 5,000-meters and Olicia Williams was third in the 800 meters.

Last season at the TCU Invitational, Baylor athletes won nine event titles. After competing at TCU, Baylor will head south to Austin for the Texas Relays, which start Wednesday. Select student-athletes will also travel to the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, which begins on March 26.
