WACO, Texas - For the second time in 15 days, the fifth-ranked Baylor men's tennis team bested No. 11 Virginia with a 5-2 triumph Sunday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Sunday's result came just over two weeks since BU topped the Cavaliers, 4-3, at the National Indoor Team Championships in Chicago. While the result was the same, the match was much different with no singles or doubles rematches occurring.
For the second-straight contest, Baylor had a match that was scheduled to be played outdoors forced indoors due to inclement weather. And just as the case was one week ago against No. 12 UCLA, the venue change had little effect on the Bears.
Baylor (9-2) beat Virginia (7-2) in doubles and then got victories at No. 1, 4, 5 and 6 singles to take the win.
In doubles play, Vince Schneider and Felipe Rios rolled to a 6-1 victory over Mac Styslinger and Jonathan Cornish, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot.
UVA tied the doubles battle at one match apiece and handed BU just its third lost doubles match of the year when the 55th-ranked duo of Ryan Shane and Luca Corinteli downed No. 56 Mate Zsiga and Tony Lupieri, 6-3, court one.
However, Julian Lenz and Diego Galeano didn't let doubt linger long as they were serving with match point against Collin Altamirano and Mitchell Frank when the contest on court one concluded.
Galeano's forehand tied up Altamirano at the net given the Bears the match and the doubles point, 6-3.
In singles action, Zsiga, who was the hero of the first match against Virginia, wasted no time pushing the Bears to a 2-0 advantage as he cruised past J.C. Aragone, 6-0, 6-2, on court five.
Virginia finally got on the board to close the gap to 2-1 when 40th-ranked Max Tchoutakian was upset by Altamirano, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 3 spot.
Rios then knocked off Henrik Wiersholm, 6-1, 6-4, at the bottom of the lineup to put the Bears up 3-1.
The Cavaliers responded one more time to cut the lead to 3-2 with No. 59 Frank coming back to down No. 23 Lupieri, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 2 position.
For the second-straight match Julian Lenz beat the country's No. 2 ranked player to clinch BU's win. Lenz had a routine 6-4, 7-5 triumph over Shane to give the Bears the fourth point. The junior had upset second-ranked Mackenzie McDonald of UCLA, 6-4, 6-2 to secure last Sunday's shutout of the Bruins.
With the match decided, Schneider produced a 7-6(6), 6-4 upset over the 91st-ranked Styslinger at the No. 4 position.

TOP QUOTE #1
"We are just trying to get to four points. Some guys are playing great and some guys not so great. We have got some guys that have to get going. It seems like over the course of a year, it kind of flows that way. I am sure that some of the guys that didn't win today are going to be great later and vice versa. We have to take our team win and feel great about it. The guys that played great we have to take and try to improve and those that didn't have to bounce back for Tuesday." - head coach Matt Knoll on the match
TOP QUOTE #2
"Julian is a very experienced guy. He has been in that situation a lot. We know he is going to be a fighter and be resilient. He was able to do that today and hold serve to get us out the door. Ryan plays huge and I am proud of Julian for getting through it." - Knoll on Julian Lenz's win
TOP QUOTE #3
"It's funny because we don't really practice doubles. We feel confident with our partners. Coach has figured out the lineup we need to win and it has worked. We don't do anything special to be honest. We try to make good decisions and it has worked so far." - senior Mate Zsiga on success in doubles
