WACO, Texas - WACO, Texas - Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling will start off the 2015 National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association (NCATA) season at home in a tri-meet against the Quinnipiac Bobcats and Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Ferrell Center at 6:00 p.m. CT.

"I always tell the team that it's okay to have butterflies before the first meet, but you have to get them flying all in the right direction. I think they're eager to get the first one out of the way," said head coach Felecia Mulkey. "They're a lot more confident than they have been in the past, and I think they want to show everyone what they can do because they've worked extremely hard. They're a super talented team that's getting better every week."

The Bears are familiar with the Bobcats, losing a close meet by .56 in Hamden, Conn. last season. This is the first season in the NCATA for Concordia University Wisconsin. Head coach Cristina Ribble competed in competitive cheer under Mulkey at Kennesaw State University. Along with the Falcons, the Bears will have 14 newcomers hit the competition mat for the first time Saturday.

"I want the newcomers to walk away from the meet feeling satisfied that they executed well and ready to upgrade. All of the freshmen come from highly competitive high schools, whether they competed in gymnastics or competitive cheer. They're just as hungry as the veterans. I want them to do well for the team, but I also want them to enjoy the sport because this is the first taste of the sport they are getting. Whenever I talk to the new girls after a meet I ask them if they had a good time. I always like to know what they think."

The team got their first feel for the 2015 season by holding an exhibition during the halftime of the men's basketball game Wednesday, Feb. 4.

"Performing at halftime of the men's basketball game helped us in two ways: we got to experience performing in front of a crowd and introduce this sport to a completely different fan base. I haven't had the opportunity to be out in the community to spread the word about Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling as much as I wish, but everyone should definitely come out and give it a chance. Baylor always has a great following, and we're looking to increase that even more."

A&T meets consist of six events: Compulsory, Acro, Pyramid, Toss, Tumbling and Team Routine. Teams compete in a predetermined rotation order throughout each event. Events are immediately scored by officials and overall standings are displayed on a scoreboard.

Admission to the meet is $5. For those not able to attend the event, the competition may be viewed online (subscription) at: WATCH LIVE.
