BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On how it feels to win the Big 12 at home:
"I'm so happy for that basketball team I get to coach every day. The fans were awesome. It was a great crowd. Another Big 12 Championship. It wasn't easy. TCU is a very difficult team to defeat. They run an offense that has a lot of movement, but we hung in there. It being family day, I thought it was a good opportunity to play the entire team, and it should be fun."
On how this team came together and made it happen:
"I don't have a magic potion. I don't have the answers. I just know we're pretty good. I know we've got a good group of girls to represent Baylor. I think they've just proven that every game they're competitors. We've got a lot of weapons. We have a lot of depth, and we don't just have one superstar. They share the basketball well. They help each other defensively. They take criticism. They take coaching and they come back to work the next day."
On how to handle the last three conference games:
"You want to keep winning. Some people let their starters and those guys rest. We're probably not good enough to do that and win. I've got to be smart in how I coach these last three games. The first thing I know is we're going to play to win. If during those three games we can rest them as much as possible, we'll do that. We've been able to do that all year when we get leads."
Sophomore Post Khadijiah Cave
On how special this win and postgame celebration was:
"It's an amazing experience to get to play in front of your fans and family. It's an incredible and amazing experience and I'm glad we all get to enjoy it."
On her game today, scoring a career high 23 points:
"I wasn't really paying attention, but I know that I've got the height advantage and I got the speed so I got a lot of lobs from Niya (Johnson) with the assists. She knew she could get me inside."
Junior Guard Niya Johnson
On this team & how far it can go:
"This team has great chemistry. We all try to feed off of each other and once one of us gets going, we all get going. We made it this far and it doesn't stop now. We'll just take it one game at a time."
On TCU playing them close for most of the game:
"They weren't going to give us anything easy from the beginning to the end. They played very hard and made some tough shots. But we came out and kept attacking and that's how we got the win."
TCU POSTGAME QUOTES
TCU Head Coach Raegan Pebley
On Baylor 3-point shooting:
"I think their 3-point shooting was the difference tonight. That helped open up the paint for them, because we had to come out and contest the shot a little harder. It took rebounders away from the basket, so they were able to get more offensive rebounds. I think the 3-point shooting was definitely the difference for them, because it's something that they haven't had in the last few games. I think that's why games have been a little bit harder for them to grind out. At Texas Tech and in the Kansas game they didn't shoot very well, but it was huge for them tonight."
On TCU performance:
"There are no moral victories, I don't believe in them. You as a coach want to see your team win or lose playing within your system, and I felt like we did a good job playing within our system. They just had more players hit more shots."
On TCU team:
"I truly believe in our team so much. I thought there were mistakes out there, but we're a team that is growing and continuing to get better. Baylor deserves a lot of credit though. Their depth proved to help them get this win tonight."
