IRVING, Texas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Baylor senior forward Taurean Prince has been voted Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the first time, the league office announced Monday.

Prince joins Rico Gathers, who was named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week on Nov. 16, to give Baylor multiple Big 12 Player of the Week winners for the fifth straight season. He's the 16th player in program history to win the award, and it marks the 28th time one of those players has been honored.

Prince led Baylor to a 2-0 record last week as the Bears recorded wins over No. 13 Vanderbilt and Prairie View A&M. The San Antonio, Texas, product had his best game of the week in the 69-67 win over the Commodores, finishing with a career-high 30 points, along with five rebounds and three steals. He scored 10 straight and 16 of 18 points for Baylor during a six-minute stretch on his way to 19 first-half points.

The win over Vanderbilt was Baylor's first-ever home non-conference win over a ranked team, and it marked the fourth time a ranked team visited Waco in non-conference play.

Prince's 30 points tied the most by any Big 12 player this season and marked the first time a Baylor player topped 30 points since March 14, 2013, when Pierre Jackson put up 31 against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship.

Prince averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 30.0 minutes per game during the week. Through seven games, he's averaging a team-high 16.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals in 27.9 minutes per game. He ranks fourth in the Big 12 in scoring, tied for sixth in 3-pointers made per game (2.1), tied for seventh in offensive rebounds per game (3.0), 10th in assists per game, 10th in 3-point percentage (.405), tied for 12th in steals per game and 13th in free throw percentage (.781).

Also Monday, Baylor climbed eight spots to No. 15 in the coaches poll and nine spots to No. 16 in the AP Top 25. The Bears host Northwestern State at 7 p.m. CT Tuesday on FOX Sports Southwest-Plus, wrapping up a six-game homestand prior to an eight-day break for final exams.
