No. 4/4 Baylor Takes on Northwestern State...
After returning home from a Thanksgiving trip to the Bahamas and hosting the Rice Owls, the No. 4/4 Baylor Lady Bears will take on Northwestern State in the second of a five-game homestand. The contest also marks the second of three games within a five-day span. After downing Rice on Wednesday, 89-38, the Lady Bears will host Northwestern State on Friday, Dec. 4 (7 p.m.) and Grambling State on Sunday, Dec. 6 (2 p.m.).
Sixteenth-year head coach Kim Mulkey's Lady Bear squad is led on the season by All-American junior forward Nina Davis and junior guard Alexis Jones with 16.6 and 12.9 points per game, respectively. Senior point guard Niya Johnson averages 8.1 points, 8.4 assists and 5.4 rebounds a contest. Freshman post Kalani Brown is averaging 9.1 points a game and also ranks No. 2 on the team in rebounding with 5.4 an outing. Senior Kristina Higgins leads the Lady Bears on the boards, hauling down 5.6 per game.
As a team, Baylor is shooting a Big 12-leading .501 (211-421). However, BU's five posts, Nina Davis, Kalani Brown, Khadijiah Cave, Kristina Higgins and Beatrice Mompremier, are shooting a combined .631 (128-203) from the floor. Cave (.659), Davis (.657) and Brown (.610) rank among the Big 12's top six in field goal percentage. Cave, who had her first double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds vs. Rice, ranks No. 3 while Davis checks in at No. 4 and Brown is No. 6.
Northwestern State, under fourth-year co-head coaches Brooke and Scott Stoehr, enters the contest at 3-4 on the season. The Lady Demons are led by junior guard Beatrice Attura's 18.3 points while Janelle Perez, a senior guard, scores 10.4 a contest. Junior guard Shahd Abboud leads the team in rebounding with 6.6 a game.
Care Bear Drive on Friday...
The Baylor women's basketball team will have its 10th annual "Care Bear" drive on Friday, Dec. 4, when it hosts Northwestern State at 7 p.m. Whataburger, in its first year as the event sponsor, will provide a $5 admission to the game and a coupon for a free Whataburger (while supplies last) to each fan who donates a new bear.
All bears donated will be delivered by team members to children and patients at Waco's Baylor Scott & White Hospital.

Northwestern State...
- Located in Natchitoches, La., the Northwestern State Lady Demons, members of the Southland Conference, bring a 3-4 season record into the contest. The Lady Demons are making their third trip to Texas as they played at SMU (L, 74-36) and at Texas (L, 86-33).
- The Demons are led by junior guard Beatrice Attura's 18.3 points while Janelle Perez, a senior guard, scores 10.4 a contest. Junior guard Shahd Abboud leads the team in rebounding with 6.6 a game.
- Northwestern State is coached by co-head coaches Brooke (Louisiana Tech, 2002) and Scott Stoehr (Nebraska Wesleyan, 1997). The Stoehr's are in their fourth season as head coaches and are 55-50 (.524).
- Prior to arriving at Northwestern State, Brooke Stoehr was an assistant at Texas Tech. She played collegiately at Louisiana Tech from 1998-2002 where she served as a two-year captain and starting point guard as a junior and senior.
- Stoehr was recruited to Louisiana Tech by current BU head coach Kim Mulkey and played two season for her.
