IRVING, Texas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Baylor senior forward Rico Gathers has been voted Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the third time in his career, the conference office announced Monday.

With his third career Big 12 Player of the Week honor, Gathers tied the school record held by LaceDarius Dunn and Cory Jefferson. Gathers was recognized on Jan. 26 and Feb. 9 last season.

The LaPlace, La., native had a game-high 18 points, seven rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes of Baylor's 42-point victory over Stephen F. Austin on Friday. He made 8-of-9 shots from the field and converted 2-of-3 free throws.

Gathers also clogged the paint on defense, helping the Bears hold SFA to 32.7 percent shooting, while Baylor claimed a 48-12 edge in points in the paint. BU handed the Lumberjacks their largest margin of defeat in four seasons under current head coach Brad Underwood, whose record at the school is now 61-9.

Gathers shared the Big 12 Player of the Week award with Kansas State's Wesley Iwundu, who had 23 points and 10 rebounds in K-State's win over Maryland-Eastern Shore. TCU's Vladimir Brodziansky was named Newcomer of the Week.

Also Monday, Baylor climbed two spots to No. 20 in the AP Top 25 poll and remained No. 21 in the coaches poll. Oregon entered the AP poll at No. 25, making Monday night's game in Eugene, Ore., the first matchup of top-25 teams in college basketball this season. The game will tip off at 10:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2 as part of the network's Tip-Off Marathon.
