Track & Field Releases 2016 Meet Schedule

WACO, Texas - Baylor track and field head coach Todd Harbour announced his squad's 2016 schedule Friday, which features six indoor meets and a total of 11 outdoor competitions.

BU will open the indoor season on the road at the Texas A&M Team Invitational in College Station, Texas, on Jan. 16. That meet is followed by a trip to Lexington, Ky., for the Rod McCravy Invite on Jan. 22-23.

The Bears will be off the last weekend in January, before heading back to College Station for the Charlie Thomas Invite on Feb. 5-6. The following weekend, Baylor will travel north to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational, Feb. 12-13, in the final meet before postseason action.

The Big 12 Indoor Championship will be held on Feb. 26-27 in Ames, Iowa. Postseason action will continue for qualified athletes at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala., March 11-12.

Baylor's outdoor schedule begins with the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, March 17-18.

After a weekend off, Baylor will head to Austin for the first of two meets in the state's capital as the Bears participate in the Texas Relays, March 30-April 2. That same weekend on April 1-2, select student-athletes will be in Palo Alto, Calif., to compete at the Stanford Invitational.

The Bears open year two at Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium by hosting the Baylor Invitational on April 9. Two weeks later, Baylor again will welcome some of the nation's top teams to Waco for the annual Michael Johnson Invitational on April 23.

In between the two home meets, BU will head back to Austin for the Longhorn Invitational on April 16.

The next weekend on April 28-30, select distance runners will be at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.

For the final regular season meet of the year to end a streak of seven-straight weekends of competition, Baylor returns to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, April 27-May 1.

The Bears will have a week off, before heading to Fort Worth, for the Big 12 Outdoor Championship, May 13-15.

The 2016 slate wraps up with NCAA competition beginning with the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, May 26-28, in Lawrence, Kan. The NCAA Championships will be held June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.
