THE RUNDOWN
VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Baylor men's golf placed eighth at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, after shooting 6-over 286 in Tuesday's final round at The Old Overton Club. The Bears carded 19-over-par 859 for the 54-hole tournament.
Senior Frederik Andersen shot 1-over 71 on the day to finish tied for 16th at 1-over 211 for the tournament. Freshman Braden Bailey tied for 33rd at 6-over 216, after shooting even-par 70 in his final round. He was followed by Andreas Gjesteby, who tied for 36th at 8-over 218, after shooting a final-round 6-over 76.
Garrett May carded 3-over 73 in his final round to finish tied for 42nd at 10-over 220. Matthew Perrine shot 2-over 72 on the day to move up three places and tie for 48th at 12-over 222 for the tournament.
Alabama (-19) won the tournament by five strokes over Florida (-14). Auburn (-13) placed third, followed by Florida State (-7) in fourth, Arkansas (+6) in fifth, UAB (+8) in sixth and UNLV (+13) in seventh. Baylor (+19) finished eighth, ahead of UTSA (+26), Kennesaw State (+28), Charlotte (+32) and Mississippi State (+34).
HIGHLIGHTS
- Baylor placed fifth in par-5 scoring at 5-under 4.83.
- Baylor tied for sixth in par-4 scoring at 13-over 4.07.
- Baylor tied for seventh in birdies recorded, carding 40 over three rounds.
- Braden Bailey tied for fourth in par-5 scoring at 3-under 4.50.
- Andersen leads the team and tied for 10th in birdies recorded with 12 over three rounds.
- Garret May was one of 13 players who shot an eagle in the tournament, carding a 3 on the par-5, 539-yard 16th hole.
