WACO, Texas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Baylor junior quarterback Seth Russell added the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose National Player of the Week honors to his list of weekly accolades Tuesday.

Russell had already been recognized as the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, the Athlon Offensive Player of the Week and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Baylor's 62-38 victory over West Virginia on Saturday.

In the game against the Mountaineers, the junior quarterback tallied 540 total yards of offense (380 passing, 160 rushing) and accounted six touchdowns. The Garland, Texas, native completed 20-of-33 passes and threw five TD passes, while rushing for one more score in the victory.

It was the second game in Baylor history in which a QB had 300-plus passing yards and 100-plus rushing yards. Russell's career-high 160 rushing yards were the 31st-most in a game in program history and the second-most by a quarterback (RG3 had 217 vs. Washington State in 2008).

With Russell piloting the offense, the Bears continue to be tops in the NCAA with 719.7 yards of offense per game and 63.8 points per contest. BU is the only team in the country averaging over eight yards per play, gaining 8.94 yards a snap.

Individually, Russell leads the FBS in passing efficiency (210.0), passing TDs (27), passing yards per completion (18.51), points responsible for per game (32.0) and passing yards per attempt (11.70). The junior is 12th in passing yards per game (317.8) and his total offensive output of 374.2 yards per game is sixth-best nationally.

Russell has also helped Baylor rise to a program-best ranking of No. 2 in both the AP Top 25 and the Amway Coaches Poll. With Russell at the helm, the Bears are 6-0 for the third-straight year ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" a program first ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" and 3-0 in conference play for a third-straight year as well.

Russell is the third quarterback from the Big 12 Conference to land the Davey O'Brien weekly honor this year. In addition, he is the sixth winner from the league in the past 10 weeks dating back to last year. Included in that group is former Baylor teammate Bryce Petty (Oct. 14, 2014).

All 128 FBS quarterbacks are eligible for the weekly award, which is determined by a subset of the Davey O'Brien National Selection Committee.

Russell becomes the second BU player to be honored with a weekly honor by the Tyler Rose Award this season. He joins Corey Coleman, who was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week on Sept. 15.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division 1 football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year D1 Texas college.

Baylor will now host Iowa State at McLane Stadium at 11 a.m. Saturday for Homecoming. That game will be nationally televised by ESPN.
