WACO, Texas - The 10th-ranked Baylor's men's tennis team will continue its 2015 dual-match season by hosting No. 73 Louisiana-Lafayette at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Following two 4-0 victories over No. 61 Tulane and No. 40 Drake in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, the Bears boast a 2-1 record on the young season.
"Louisiana has a good program," head coach Matt Knoll said. "Mark Jeffrey (head coach) was a good player and they have a lot of guys who compete hard. It is going to be a good competitive match for us and we need it. It's more chances to play and to compete and I think we're going to get a lot out of it."
The match was originally scheduled to be indoors at Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center, but now will be played at the Riverside courts at the Hurd Tennis Center.
"We're an outdoor team and there's supposed to be beautiful weather this week," Knoll said. "We felt like when we originally scheduled this match that we would need an indoor match to prepare for the National Team Indoors. We ended up playing Illinois indoors and have practiced in there already, so I think we've had enough of that. It's time to get out here and take advantage of this good weather and start preparing for the end of the season."
Baylor has won the doubles point in all three of its matches so far in 2015 and the tandem of Diego Galeano and Julian Lenz are a perfect 3-0 in dual-match play.
In singles, the fifth-ranked Lenz has shined as well, holding a 2-0 record. BU also has two other ranked singles players in senior Tony Lupieri, who is 26th and 2-1 in dual-match play, while junior Felipe Rios is No. 121 and 1-1 so far.
Baylor's opponent for Wednesday, Louisiana-Lafayette, is 2-4 on the season, after dropping matches to No. 1 USC and No. 50 UNC Wilmington during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
Baylor leads the Ragin' Cajuns in the all-time series, 11-5, including a perfect 10-0 record under Knoll. The Bears have beat ULL in each of the past five seasons, including four wins by 7-0 scores.

Following the match against Louisiana-Lafayette, select Baylor players will compete in an individual ATP Challenger event, the $100,000 RBC Tennis Championships, in Dallas starting on Saturday, Jan. 31.
