WACO, Texas - In the first regular season edition of the NCAA National Team Computer Rankings, the Baylor men's and women's track and field teams both made jumps into the top 25, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday.

The men have moved up 18 spots to No. 12 from their preseason ranking of No. 30 due to a strong start to the season from sophomore sprinter Trayvon Bromell. On the women's side, Baylor climbed two spots from No. 26 to No. 24 in the newest edition of the rankings.

The BU men racked up a total of 54.65 points in the computer-generated rankings, while the women tallied a 34.89 point tally. The points are based on scored bests from the 2015 season as well as 2014 indoor performances that better the current season's marks.

Baylor's ranking on the men's side is its highest indoor placing since being 10th in the fifth edition of the 2010 rankings. Meanwhile, the women were as high as No. 19 last season. The BU men are the second-highest ranked Big 12 team, just behind Texas at No. 10.

The bulk of Baylor's points on the men's side come from Bromell, who owns the No. 1 60-meter time (6.54) and the No. 2 200-meter mark (20.80) of 2015. Adding to BU's point tally are 2014 marks from George Caddick in the 400-meter, Felix Obi in the long and triple jump and the 4x400-meter relay team.

The Lady Bears get the majority of their points from Rachel Johnson, who is fourth in the 5000 meters (15:40.45). The women get points from the 2014 marks of Johnson in the 3,000 meters and Brianna Richardson in the triple jump. Raena Rhone, Olicia Williams, Mariah Kelly, Annie Rhodes and the distance medley relay also contributed to the overall total with top marks in 2015.

Baylor is off from competition this weekend, but will head back to College Station, Texas, for the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational on Feb. 6-7.
